Alaska Dog Mushiing Adventure

Your flight begins in the Knik River Valley, you will fly past Pioneer Peak and the Butte before crossing the Mat-Su Valley. As you approach The Dogstead you will want to keep your eyes north and your fingers crossed for a glimpse of Denali.
When you arrive at The Dogstead you will have more than an hour to meet the dogs and learn more about the sport of dog mushing. Well respected Iditarod musher Nic Petit will introduce you to the dogs and show you how to harness them up before your sledding adventure begins.
After experiencing the power of an Alaskan dog sled team, you will arrive back at your helicopter…smiling for sure!
All that remains is another ride in a helicopter!

Iconic Alaska - Dog Mushing & Glaciers

This adventure begins the same as the Alaska Dog Mushing Adventure. A helicopter flight past Pioneer Peak. A glimpse of Sleeping Lady, Denali on a clear day!
You will spend some time with the dogs. Mush with Nic and climb back into the helicopter for your return trip to the Knik River Valley. This time though, you are not headed back to Outbound Heli Adventures.
Instead you will fly the 25 miles through the Knik River Valley to the Knik Glacier itself. Landing on the glacier to explore dramatic ice formations and incredible, blue pools of glacier water.
Be sure to fill your water bottle before you climb back into the helicopter! This is an experience you will never forget!

Your flight to The Dogstead (Iditarod musher Nic Petit’s home) will be an incredible opportunity to photograph Pioneer Peak, view the Butte from above and, maybe, see Denali.
Once you arrive, this unique experience offers a choice between an evening dog sled ride (exclusive to guests staying in a cozy yurt) or a morning mushing adventure.
Either way you will spend the evening on the 160 acre Dogstead, able to interact with these amazing, furry athletes as much as you choose.
When you head to your yurt, you are sure to be in awe of the views. The Talkeetna Range, Chugach Mountains and even the Alaska Range can all be seen.
With a crackling fire in the wood stove, you are sure to enjoy your stay.
